We are working on rolling out numerous Albany, NY area feeds this Summer of 2025 covering the area’s many freight railroads. Below is a summary of these feeds:
CSX Mohawk Sub – East End
A well-located directional Yagi antenna pointed west on the ridge above Amsterdam will allow reception for many miles to the west, potentially as far as Little Falls. This feed will work in conjunction with the CSX Railroad Syracuse to Amsterdam feed to solidify coverage in the eastern half of the Mohawk River Valley.
CSX Selkirk Sub
Hosted at a residence in Guilderland, this feed will cover CSX’s Selkirk Sub from Hoffmans (CP 169) to Selkirk Yard, including both the South Schenectady and Voorheesville detectors. This feed will act as a natural continuation of the previously mentioned CSX Mohawk Sub feed.
CSX Selkirk Terminal
Located just a stone’s throw from Selkirk Yard, listeners will be able to listen to the Yard primary channel, both the Selkirk Sub & River Line road channels, and the NC & NI dispatcher channels in order to hear all of the action at CSX’s sprawling Selkirk Yard. This feed will be vital for hearing arriving & departing trains.
Capital District Railroads – NS/CPKC/B&E
CSX isn’t the only railroad getting our attention! The same Amsterdam site hosting the CSX’s Mohawk Sub feed will also host a feed covering NS’ Freight Line, CPKC’s Freight & Canadian Mains, and the west end of the Berkshire & Eastern. While it’s difficult to determine coverage prior to installation, coverage simulations show that this feed could potentially cover from around Howes Cave to the south, to Saratoga Yard to the north, and to around Johnsonville on the Berkshire & Eastern.
